We Are Northern Lights: A Scottish Film Project

Last week We Are Northern Lights asked to use a snippet of my “Welcome to 2012! Edinburgh’s New Year Fireworks” for their up-coming trailer.  I didn’t hesitate to say yes.

They’ve asked that I help spread the word about this upcoming project.  It begins on 20th March.  It looks to be exciting if the trailer is anything to go by!

To quote their site:

Northern Lights is a nationwide documentary film project created by you.

We want you to share your world, your life and your Scotland.

Northern Lights will be a feature documentary created from your films. We want you to share your vision with us.

We want you to do this creatively and we don’t care if your film is a brief fragment or a stream of consciousness. You might be angry, funny, confused or inspired. You might use your camera to film someone you care about or a place or an issue that means something to you.

We’re not sure what you will share with us but we hope to have our eyes opened by a Scotland we think we know but we have yet to discover.

To encourage and support you we will make £10,000 of awards to the filmmakers we feel have made the most compelling contributions to the project. On our website we will also provide online tutorials and feedback. Special Northern Lights filmmaking workshops will also be happening across the country and you can join one or perhaps even organise one.

We plan to make it as easy as possible to get involved.

So – what are you waiting for?  Do you have video clips of Scotland? If so – head over to the We Are Northern Lights website and sign up for their newsletter.

You can also follow them/contact them via Twitter and Facebook

Consider the word spread…
